A woman came home from work late, tired and irritated,

to find her 5-year old son waiting for her at the door.

SON: 'Mummy, may I ask you a question?'

MUM: 'Yeah sure, what it is?' replied the woman.

SON: 'Mummy, how much do you make an hour?'

MUM: 'That's none of your business. Why do you ask such a thing?' the woman said angrily.

SON: 'I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?'

MUM: 'If you must know, I make $20 an hour.'

SON: 'Oh,' the little boy replied, with his head down.

SON: "Mummy, may I please borrow $5?"

The mother was furious, 'If the only reason you asked that is so you can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. Think about why you are being so selfish. I don't work hard everyday for such childish frivolities.'

The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door...

The woman sat down and started to get even angrier about the little boy's questions. How dare he ask such questions only to get some money?

After about an hour or so, the woman had calmed down, and started to think:

Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that $5 and he really didn't ask for money very often.The woman went to the door of the little boy's room and opened the door.

'
Are you asleep, son?' She asked.

'No Mummy, I'm awake,' replied the boy.

'
I've been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier' said the woman. 'It's been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you. Here's the $5 you asked for.'

The little boy sat straight up, smiling. 'Oh, thank you Mummy!' he yelled. Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled up bills.

The woman saw that the boy already had money, started to get angry again.

The little boy slowly counted out his money, and then looked up at his mother.

'Why do you want more money if you already have some?' the mother grumbled.

'Because I didn't have enough, but now I do,' the little boy replied.

'Mummy, I have $20 now. Can I buy an hour of your time? Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you.'

The mother was crushed. She put her arms around her little son, and she begged for his forgiveness.

It's just a short reminder to all of you working so hard in life. We should not let time slip through our fingers without having spent some time with those who really matter to us, those close to our hearts. Do remember to share that $20 worth of your time with someone you love

A Man and a Thirsty Dog

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "While a man was walking on his way he became extremely thirsty. He found a well, he went down into it to drink water. Upon leaving it, he saw a dog which was panting out of thirst. His tongue was lolling out and he was eating moist earth from extreme thirst. The man thought to himself: `This dog is extremely thirsty as I was.' So he descended into the well, filled up his leather sock with water, and holding it in his teeth, climbed up and quenched the thirst of the dog. Allah appreciated his action and forgave his sins". The Companions asked: "Shall we be rewarded for showing kindness to the animals also?'' He (PBUH) said, "A reward is given in connection with every living creature".
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
In the narration of Al-Bukhari, the Prophet (PBUH) is reported to have said: "Allah forgave him in appreciation of this act and admitted him to Jannah".
Another narration says: "Once a dog was going round the well and was about to die out of thirst. A prostitute of Banu Israel happened to see it. So she took off her leather sock and lowered it into the well. She drew out some water and gave the dog to drink. She was forgiven on account of her action".
Commentary:
1. This Hadith emphasizes the importance of kindness to every creature, even animals, because Allah is pleased with such kindness.
2. Allah's Quality of mercy and forgiveness is immensely vast. If He wants He may forgive a person even on a minor good action done by him.

All praises be to Allah, the lord of the universe. May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon Muhammad, his last messenger.

The objective of this handout is to correct a false idea spread among those willing to adopt Islam as their faith. Some people are facing difficulties on the basis of their mistaken belief that entering into the Islamic fold requires an announcement from the concerned person in the presence of high ranking scholars or shiekhs or reporting this act to courts of justice or other authorities. It is also thought that the act of accepting Islam, should, as a condition, have a certificate issued by the authorities as an evidence to that effect.

We wish to clarify that the whole matter is very easy and that none of the above mentioned conditions or obligations are required. For Allah; the Almighty, is above all comprehension and knows well the secrets of all hearts. Nevertheless, those who are going to adopt Islam as their religion are advised to register themselves as Muslims with the concerned governmental agency, as this procedure may facilitate for them many matters including the possibility of performing Hajj and Umrah.

If anyone has a real desire to be a Muslim and has full conviciton and strong belief that Islam is the true religion ordained by Allah (SWT) for all human beings, then, one should pronounce the " Shahada"( The testimony of faith ), without further delay. The Holy Qur'an is explicit on this regard as Allah ( SWT) has stated .

"Truly, the Religion in the sight of Allah is Islam. ( 3:19 )

In another verse of the Holy Qur'an, Allah (SWT) has stated :

" And whosoever desires a religion other than Islam, Never will it be accepted of him ; and in the Hereafter he will be in the ranks of those who have lost. ( 3:85 )

In addition, Islam is the only Religion prevailing over all other religions. Allah(SWT) has stated in the Holy Qur'an ;

" And to thee We have sent the Book in truth,(This Qur'an) confirming the scripture that came before it, and a witness over it .... " ( 5:48 ).

Muhammad, the prophet of Allah ( peace and blessing of Allah be upon him ), said :

" Islam is based on five pillars: testifying that there is no god worthy to be worshipped but Allah, and that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah and His servant, performing the prayer, paying the Zakat ( obligatory charity ), fasting the month of Ramadan, and performing Hajj".

The Shahada can be declared as follows :

( ASH-HADU ANLAA ILAHA ILLA ALLAH WA ASH HADU ANNA MUHAMMADAN ABDUHU WA RASUULUH )

the English translation is :

I bear witness that there is no deity worthy to be worshipped but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger.

However, it would not be sufficient for anyone to utter only this testimony orally either in private or in public, but rather, one should believe in it by heart with a firm conviction and unshakable faith. If he is truly sincere and complies with the teachings of Islam in all is life he will find himself a new born person.( or new men ).

This will move him to strive more and more to improve his character and draw nearer to perfection. The light of the living faith will fill his heart until he becomes the embodiment of that faith.

What would be next after declaring the testimony of faith ( Shahada ) and then become a Muslim ?

He should know the real concept underlying this testimony which means the Oneness of Allah and accept prophet Muhammad ( peace be upon him ), as the last of the prophets and meet its requirements. He must behave accordingly, applying this true faith to every thing he speaks or does.

What do the words of " Shahada " signify ?

The significant point which every Muslim must know very well is the truth that there is no god ( diety ) to be worshipped other than Allah, (Glory be him ). He is the only true God, who alone deserves to be worshipped, since He is the Giver of life and Sustainer and Nourisher of mankind and all creation with His unlimited bounties. Man must worship Allah, Who alone is worthy of worsip.

The second part of the " Shahada " " i.e.," WA ASHHADU ANNA MUHAMADAN ABDUHU WA RASULUH " means that prophet Muhammad ( peace be upon him ), is the servant and chosen messenger of Allah. No one must have two opinions about this matter. In fact, the Muslim has to obey the commands of the prophet, to believe him in what he has said, to follow his teachings, to avoid what he has forbidden, and to worship Allah alone according to the message revealed to him.

What is the meaning of worship ?

It simply means rendering sincere service showing reverrence for Allah,. In a deeper shade of meaning, it implies total submission and complete obedience to Allah's commandments both in utterances and actions of man whether explicit of implicit and whether private or public.

Worship falls into two categories :

1_Visible ( manifest or outward )

2_Invisible ( concealed or inward )

visible worship includes acts such as uttering the two parts of the " Shahada," performing prayers, giving Zakat ( obligatory charity ) observing fast in the month of Ramadan, performing Hajj, recitation of the Holy Qur'an, suplication, adoring Allah by praising Him, purifying our bodies before prayers, etc.

This type of worship is associated with movement of the parts of human body . ( actions )

Invisible worship is to believe in Allah, in the Day of Judgment, in the Hereafter, in the Angels, in the Books of Allah, in the Divine Deeree of destiny ( that good and bad are determined by Allah Alone ).

this type of worship does not involve movements of parts of the body but it surely has bearing on one's heart which subsequently affects his way of life.( Beliefs ).

It should be borne in mind that any worship not dedicated to Allah Alone will be rejected as one from of poly theism or shirk, which amount to apostasy from the Islamic point of view.

The next step for a devotee ( newly reverted to Islam ) is to purify himself by taking bath ( total ablution ). He should then resolve to comply with all the principles and rules of Islam in their entirety. He disown all forms of polytheism and false beliefs. He should reject evil and be righteous. Such rejection of evil and being righteous is one of the requisites of the motto of Islam that is, Lailaha Illal Laah.

Allah has stated in the Holy Qur'an :

"....... whoever disbelieves in false deities and believes in Allah, hath grasped the most trustworthy Handhold, that will never break ... ( 2:256 )

we have to consider that when we declare from out heart that " there is no god ( diety ) worthy to be worshipped but Allah," it implies on our part love, devotion, faith and obedience to the rules of Islamic legislations which are legally binding on all Muslims. It is a requirement of " there is no god worthy to be worshipped but Allah," to love for the sake of Allah and to reject for the sake of Allah. This is the firmest anchor of belief which materialises the meaning of " AL-WALA" and "AL-BARA" . It means that a Muslim should love and be loyal to his Muslim brothers. He should as a practice, dissociate himself completely from practices of the unbelievers and refuse to be influenced by them, both in worldly and religious matters.

We conclude with a humble prayer to Allah that may He cleanse the hearts and souls of those who are genuine seekers of truth and may He bless the community of believers, Ameen.

NAIROBI, Kenya - Parts of southern Somalia are suffering from famine, a U.N. official said Wednesday, and tens of thousands of Somalis have already died in the worst hunger emergency in a generation.
The Horn of Africa is suffering a devastating drought compounded by war, neglect and spiraling prices. Some areas in the region have not had such a low rainfall in 60 years, aid group Oxfam said.

The U.N. needs $300 million in the next two months, said Mark Bowden, the U.N.'s top official in charge of humanitarian aid in Somalia. The last time conditions were this bad was in 1992, when hundreds of thousands of Somalis starved to death. That famine prompted intervention by an international peacekeeping force, but it eventually pulled out after two American Black Hawk helicopters were shot down in 1993.
The southern Somali regions of Bakool and Lower Shabelle regions are suffering from famine, Bowden said. Across East Africa, more than 11.3 million people need aid, the World Food Program said.
"Somalia is facing its worst food security crisis in the last 20 years," Bowden said. "This desperate situation requires urgent action to save lives."
Famine is officially defined as when two adults or four children per 10,000 people die of hunger each day and a third of children are acutely malnourished. In some areas of Somalia, six people are dying a day and more than half of children are acutely malnourished, Bowden said. Prices of staple foods have increased 270 percent over the last year.
"If we don't act now, famine will spread to all eight regions of southern Somalia within two months, due to poor harvests and infectious diseases," Bowden said. "We still do not have all the resources for food, clean water, shelter and health services to save the lives of hundreds of thousands of Somalia."
He said it was unlikely there would be any respite from the drought until the end of the year.
The drought has killed up to 90 percent of livestock in some regions, Oxfam said. But poor governance is also to blame.
Most of Somalia has been wracked by civil war since its last government collapsed in 1990. Islamist rebels currently hold most of southern Somalia. They banned most aid agencies from working there two years ago but rescinded the ban earlier this month.
Somalia is the most dangerous country in the world to work in, according to the U.N.'s World Food Program, which lost 14 relief workers in the past few years. Looting and attacks on aid convoys occur frequently.
WFP head Josette Sheeran said the group is willing to return to southern Somalia if the insurgents guarantee safe passage.
"We are absolutely fully committed to going where the hungry are," she said.
The weak, U.N.-backed Somali government regularly comes last in the world in the annual corruption rating by watchdog Transparency International, but Bowden said it had welcomed the U.N.'s efforts and was working closely with aid groups.
Neighboring Djibouti, Ethiopia and Kenya have also been badly affected, and Eritrea is also believed to be hard hit, though its repressive government does not release figures. Oxfam says the drought has been exacerbated by poor governance and neglect, war in Somalia and land policies that restrict grazing land for nomadic communities.
Oxfam criticized those policies in a report released Wednesday, but also said several rich European countries should do more to provide emergency aid. The aid agency says there is an $800 million shortfall in funds. They say $1 billion is needed to fund relief efforts through January.
Oxfam Regional Director Fran Equiza released a statement Wednesday saying it was "morally indefensible" that countries have only pledged $200 million in addition to long-running programs.
On Wednesday, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said the U.S. will give another $28 million, on top of the $431 million in assistance it has given to the Horn of Africa this year, which Clinton said was simply "not enough."
Britain has pledged $145 million in the past two weeks — about 15 percent of what is needed — and the European Union pledged around $8 million, with more expected in coming days. Spain has promised nearly $10 million and Germany around $8.5 million but Oxfam said France has so far not pledged any more money and Denmark and Italy have said no significant new sums are available.
"There is no time to waste if we are to avoid massive loss of life," Equiza said in a statement. "We must not stand by and watch this tragedy unfold before our eyes. The world has been slow to recognize the severity of this crisis, but there is no longer any excuse for inaction."
Some donors, like the U.S., have expressed fears that aid might be diverted by Islamist groups. But Bowden said the U.N. had done its utmost to minimize the risks that aid might be diverted.

Some of you might remember a certain stunt image that spread around the Internet recently, and it provides a pretty big hint about why Gordon might be able to talk to Batman sans bat-mask but still “disguised.” Bottom line: It’s Bruce, and he’s disguised, but not as Batman.
2. Batman is missing-in-action – Gordon says “THEN you were gone… and NOW this evil rises.” That suggests Batman disappeared prior to whatever chaos has erupted across the city. When Bruce says, “What if he doesn’t exist anymore?” he might be talking about having retired voluntarily from his role as Batman, because previous casting announcements indicated that Marion Cotillard is portraying Miranda Tate, a Wayne Enterprises board member who convinces Bruce to invest in philanthropy to pursue his father’s legacy. Bruce might have left the cowl behind in favor of trying to fulfill the “white knight” role Harvey Dent tried to take on (but failed at) in The Dark Knight. Gotham needs a hero without a mask, Bruce said, and I think Tate is trying to push him toward that role as Bruce Wayne, and he might be trying to leave Batman in his past. But he of course will come out of retirement to confront Bane. Bottom line: Batman went MIA before Bane showed up.

3. Someone is doing pushups in a prison cell — During Gordon’s speech, there’s a brief shot of a man doing pushups in shadows. Watch carefully, and you’ll notice he’s in a prison cell of some sort. He has short hair and a slight beard. He’s naked. And he might Bane, but he might also be Bruce Wayne, either in a flashback to his pre-Batman days in China abroad or perhaps arrested if his identity as Batman is revealed. Or he might be Josh Pence in his “special role” in a flashback. I suspect the latter is the case, that we’ll see Pence’s character in the past when he first encounters Bane as a young kid. Or it’s Bane training in prison before he escapes. Those are my top guesses. Bottom line: whoever it is, they’re in prison, and it might not be who you expect.
4. That’s Bane climbing up a well, but where? – The pants, bulky muscles on the arms and back, and the smooth head make me think it must be Bane scaling that brick circular enclosure toward the light above. Some fans think he’s climbing out of the well at Wayne Manor (the one down which a young Bruce fell as a child), but I think it’s more likely a different place altogether, either his prison escape or something related to The League of Shadows perhaps. Early leaked images appeared to show some sets similar to the above-ground portions of large well entrances, so that’s definitely possibly related, too. Bottom line: Bane’s the one scaling that wall, and it looks like it’s somewhere unexpected.
5. The final shot is Batman being beaten by Bane, and they might be in the batcave – At the end of Batman Begins, Bruce talked with Alfred about making some modifications to the batcave and parts of Wayne Manor. So it’s possible we’ll see a batcave that’s been expanded with catwalks and supports and other newly installed equipment. Looking at the final shot of this trailer, we see Batman backing away down a catwalk (notice the railings to the side) while Bane comes walking up stairs (notice the railing to the right side of the screen). In the background, we see what looks like an expansive dark dwelling with scaffolds and ledges and some kind of stone. It could be the batcave, which would be circumstantial evidence supporting the theory that in #4 above, Bane is climbing out of the Wayne Manor well (since that well leads down into the batcave). Look in the background, and you’ll also spot a person standing on a ledge to the right, either aiming a gun or camera, or possibly holding their hands in a praying position. Who it is, and why they are there, remains a mystery for now. But one thing is certain: Batman is backing away, gasping for breath and staggering, injured and on the ropes in this fight against the menacing villain Bane who keeps coming, unstoppable. This scene is probably early in the film, when Batman first tries to confront Bane or when Bane tracks Batman back to the batcave (or, as I personally suspect, Bane comes to the batcave to surprise Batman, because he has “inside information” about Batman’s true identity… but for now, I won’t say WHO I think has given Bane this information). Bottom line: Batman will probably LOSE this battle!
That’s it for now. I’ll have more to say soon, but these are the first five things to pay attention to in the trailer. Fans will no doubt be discussing and debating this teaser trailer as the months pass, and as more official photos and information are released.
